Adjustment of Certain Dollar Amounts Applicable to Bankruptcy Cases

On April 1, 2025, the adjustment of the dollar amounts in various sections of Title 11, United States Code (the Bankruptcy Code), and in one section of Title 28 of the United States Code, will become effective pursuant to 11 U.S.C. § 104 and apply to cases filed on or after that date. The new (adjusted) dollar amounts reflect a 13.2004% increase, rounded to the nearest $25. This is the change in the Consumer Price Index for all Urban Consumers from December 2021 to December 2024. (11 U.S.C. § 104(a)(1)). The adjusted dollar amounts were published on February 4, 2025, in volume 90, number 22, pages 8941-8942 of the Federal Register. Please note that, due to a misprint in the Federal Register, a correction was made on February 25, 2025, to the dollar amounts listed there for 28 U.S.C. § 1409(b). AFFECTED SECTIONS. The adjusted dollar amounts will affect, among other matters:

AFFECTED FORMS. Seven (7) Official Bankruptcy Forms and two (2) Director’s Forms that incorporate the dollar amounts will be updated on April 1, 2025. The forms have been posted to uscourts.gov on the Pending or Recent Changes in the Bankruptcy Forms page.
The revised forms will be effective on April 1, 2025, and they will apply to cases filed on or after that date. Once effective, the revised forms will be available on the Bankruptcy Forms page. |
