A Conversation with Judge Gary S. Katzmann of the
United States Court of International Trade
With its courthouse in New York City, the United States Court of International Trade, established under Article III of the Constitution, has nationwide jurisdiction, with full powers in law and equity, over civil actions arising out of international trade laws and custom laws of the United States. Cases involve a wide range of issues, including separation of powers, national security, administrative agency action, environmental matters, endangered species, allegations of unfair pricing by foreign companies and unfair subsidies to foreign companies by their governments, solar energy, forced labor allegations, standing and contracts issues, professional ethics, the intricacies of foreign institutions and practices, and the classification of goods. Judge Katzmann will discuss the work of the court, the nature of the litigation, and the day-to-day work of the attorneys who appear in his court.
