Court Operations During Federal Government Shutdown

United States Bankruptcy Court Central District of California

Court Operations During Federal Government Shutdown

During the current ongoing partial shutdown of the federal government, the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California will be open and continue full operations through January 31, 2019.

Should the lapse in appropriations continue after January 31, 2019, the Court will scale down operations as follows until funding can be restored:

  • Clerk’s Office and chambers staff may be subject to furlough;
  • the Court will continue to accept all bankruptcy and adversary case filings, motions, orders, emergency applications, and other litigation or case related documents;
  • some hearings on bankruptcy case and adversary proceeding matters may be continued – check with Clerk’s Office, judges’ posted calendars and self-calendaring instructions, or chambers staff for more information;
  • electronic systems (e.g., CM/ECF, ePOC, LOU, PACER, VCIS, etc.) will continue to be fully operational;
  • notices for §341(a) meetings will continue to be issued; and
  • there may be a reduction in services or delays in certain cases, but the Court will continue to address all essential matters.

If a party has an urgent need for a hearing during the shutdown, and the matter affects the preservation of health or property, that information should be provided in the moving papers. Further notice will be provided as circumstances change. Thank you for your patience during this time.
