Chari Cohen, DrPH, MPH, and Yasmin Ibrahim, MD, PhD, are researchers on a project titled “Attitudes and Perceptions of People Living with Hepatitis B on Participation in Clinical Trials.” This study aims to understand the barriers to clinical trial participation and support the development of tailored communication and outreach strategies that would increase clinical trial participation of underrepresented populations living with hepatitis B.

FDA, FTC Continue Joint Effort to Protect Consumers Against Companies Illegally Selling Copycat Delta-8 THC Food Products
The FDA and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) issued warning letters to five companies for illegally selling copycat food products containing delta-8 THC and introducing them into the marketplace in violation of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FD&C Act). The warning letters were issued to: Hippy Mood, Earthly Hemps, Shamrockshrooms.com, Mary Janes Bakery Co. LLC and Life Leaf Medical CBD Center. The FDA also issued a warning letter independently to the company GrowGod LLC for the same FD&C Act violations.
FDA Updates Guidance to Further Empower Companies to Address the Spread of Misinformation
The FDA is advancing its mission of ensuring the public has access to accurate, up-to-date science-based information to inform decisions about FDA-regulated medical products to maintain and improve their health. The agency is providing updated recommendations to empower industry seeking to voluntarily address misinformation about or related to their approved/cleared medical products.
FDA Permits Marketing of First Point-of-Care Hepatitis C RNA Test
The FDA granted marketing authorization to Cepheid for the Xpert HCV test and GeneXpert Xpress System, the first hepatitis C virus (HCV) test that can be used to bring diagnosis to appropriately certified point-of-care settings for individuals at risk for hepatitis C.
