FDA Office of Minority Health and Health Equity
January 30, 2023
In observance of Black History Month, the FDA Office of Minority Health and Health Equity (OMHHE) is hosting a webinar, Reducing Tobacco-Related Health Disparities: A Conversation with Dr. Brian King, on Monday, February 13th at 1:00 p.m. EST. Dr. King is the Director of FDA’s Center for Tobacco Products (CTP). OMHHE Director RDML Richardae Araojo and Dr. King will discuss the impact of tobacco use on Black Americans and other populations, as well as CTP’s efforts to achieve health equity in tobacco product regulation. They will also discuss the importance of the FDA working with partners within and outside the US Government, particularly those focused on communities disproportionately affected by tobacco use, to make tobacco-related disease and death part of America’s past, not America’s future.
The webinar will include a Q&A session. Participants may also submit questions in advance via email, by sending a message to HealthEquity@fda.hhs.gov with the subject line, BHM Webinar, by 5:30 p.m. EST, on February 8, 2023.
