Medical Device Shortages During the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency

Today, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) updated the device shortage list to remove:

• Surgical respirators (product code MSH)

In addition, the FDA added the following to the device discontinuance list:

• Two brands of needles and syringes (product code GAA)
• Two brands of viral transport media (product codes QMC and JSM)

The FDA will continue to monitor the supply chain and update the device shortage list and device discontinuance list as new information becomes available.
