Communicating About Medical Device Safety Is Paramount to Public Health

In this new FDA Voices article, we discuss how our communications are critical to protecting patients and reinforce our commitment to assuring they receive the right information at the right time to inform their decisions about medical device safety.

The article highlights how we:

  • Partner with people in industry, health care facilities, professional societies, and patients to help ensure safety issues related to medical devices are quickly identified, assessed, and communicated appropriately.
  • Engage with patients, caregivers, and health care providers when solving communication challenges, using an approach centered on patients which combines empathy, creativity, and critical thinking.
  • Consider patients’ needs and the information that will be most beneficial to them.
