Office of Federal Procurement Policy Update on Revolutionary FAR Overhaul Progress and 2026 Acquisition Priorities
The federal acquisition system is undergoing one of the most significant transformations in decades. In 2025, the first phase of the Revolutionary FAR Overhaul reduced regulatory burden and modernized key processes to improve speed, cost, and competition.
In 2026, the focus shifts to completing Phase II and sustaining execution across government. The memo outlines priorities to accelerate acquisition, reduce costs through commercial-first approaches, and increase competition by emphasizing outcomes over process. As this work continues, 2026 represents a pivotal year for turning reform into lasting results. Readers are encouraged to review the full memo for details.
