Hosts Webinar on June 20 to Promote the Collection of Small-Format Batteries
Please join us June 20 for a virtual meeting designed to share information from states, Tribes, municipal governments, associations, and industry representatives on effective public outreach and education efforts that promote the proper management of used small-format consumer batteries and battery-containing electric products. We will discuss the components of campaigns including messaging, materials, and outlets/mechanisms. The session will highlight a few success stories and participants will have the opportunity to share what they are doing in their own communities. Anyone involved in the collection and recycling of batteries is welcome to participate.

Explore the New Resource Guides for Food Waste Education
The Environmental Law Institute compiled a series of resource guides on sustainable food consumption in partnership with Urban Green Lab. The guides include resources on date labels, packaging, meal prep, plate size and storage. Resources cited within each guide are categorized by type (e.g. lesson plan, toolkit, creative media, etc.) and audience for ease of use in households, classrooms and workplaces.

Check Out the New Global Farm Loss Tool, Which Provides Insights to Farmers and Buyers
The World Wildlife Fund and partners released the Global Farm Loss Tool to help growers of all sizes and crop types to measure and report on-farm food losses and to work with buyers to find new channels for their surplus.

Reminder - Apply for EPA’s Environmental and Climate Justice Community Change Grants Program
EPA’s Office of Environmental Justice and External Civil Rights is awarding approximately $2 billion in grants to fund community-driven projects that address climate challenges and reduce pollution while strengthening communities through thoughtful implementation. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis with initial award selections beginning in March 2024. The final application deadline is November 21, 2024.

Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education is leading a national Community Foods Project Food Loss and Waste Training and Technical Assistance Grants Program. The program supports projects that align with USDA activities aimed at reducing food loss and waste, getting surplus wholesome food to individuals, and developing linkages between food producers, providers, and food recovery organizations.
