New video just released!

EPA's new video 'Do It Yourself! How to Build a DIY Air Cleaner' demonstrates how to build a DIY air cleaner of your own that can be used during emergencies, such as wildfires, and in other situations when products of known performance (like commercially available portable air cleaners) are not available or affordable.

Do it yourself (DIY) air cleaners can be a great short-term solution* to filter harmful particles from the air. Building a DIY air cleaner usually involves attaching one or more furnace filters to a box fan with tape, brackets or a bungee cord. EPA has evaluated three common DIY air cleaner designs which have been shown to effectively reduce levels of particles in indoor air. This video demonstrates how to build each of these three designs.

*EPA does not recommend DIY air cleaners as a permanent alternative to commercially available air cleaners.
