This free, self-guided course is designed to equip school district staff with foundational knowledge to improve indoor air quality in schools. Built on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean Air in Buildings Challenge, this course focuses on the technical aspects of assessing and improving ventilation, filtration, and air cleaning and monitoring IAQ in school buildings.
The Clean Air in Buildings for Schools training course was co-developed with the U.S. Green Building Council’s Center for Green Schools and EPA’s IAQ Tools for Schools Program.
The course is designed to support school staff’s knowledge and skills to—
- Explain how ventilation and filtration strategies, supported by scientific evidence, effectively enhance IAQ.
- Identify and apply practical ventilation and filtration methods to improve IAQ.
- Evaluate additional strategies to manage IAQ, such as air cleaning technologies and continuous IAQ monitoring.
- Outline key steps in creating an IAQ action plan.
