ASHRAE’s Guidance for COVID-19 Risk Management – Principles and Applications
The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) has developed guidance for COVID-19 risk management. This webinar will focus on engineering controls (ventilation, air distribution, filtration, air cleaning, and others) to reduce indoor exposure to infectious aerosols that cause diseases like COVID-19 as recommended by the ASHRAE Epidemic Task Force (ETF).
The presentation has two parts. The first part, presented by ETF chair William Bahnfleth, is an overview of the ETF “Core Recommendations,” which are the key principles of engineering controls applicable to most buildings. Dr. Bahnfleth will present the recommendations and the rationale behind them. The second part will be a summary of ETF “Building Readiness” guidance, which addresses the process of identifying and implementing the Core Recommendations by the Building Readiness team chair, Wade Conlan. It will cover the facility assessment process and introduce supporting tools developed by the ETF and others.
