WASHINGTON – This week, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin announced that EPA is proposing to repeal all “greenhouse gas” emissions standards for the power sector under Section 111 of the Clean Air Act (CAA) and amendments to the 2024 Mercury and Air Toxics Standards (MATS), which directly targeted American energy production and resulted in the shut-down of coal-fired power plants.
If finalized, these proposals would save over a billion dollars annually and deliver immediate savings to American families by unleashing American energy, securing our electric grid, and bolstering economic prosperity.
