DOE Announces Fall 2026 SBIR/STTR Phase I Topics, Unlocking More Than $200 Million for American Innovation
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has announced its Fall 2026 Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Phase I Topics, opening the door to more than $200 million in funding opportunities across multiple phases for American small businesses developing innovative technologies with strong commercialization potential.
The topics seek solutions to address critical challenges, such as grid innovation, nuclear detonation detection, cybersecurity, and more. Under DOE's newly restructured SBIR/STTR programs, managed by the Office of Technology Commercialization, applicants will benefit from a streamlined process and a clearer pathway from early-stage research to commercialization.
Interested small businesses are encouraged to review the available topics and submit their pitches by Wednesday, December 16.
