U.S. Department of Energy Issues Small Business Funding Program Topics
The U.S. Department of Energy issued Phase One topics for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2025 Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) program funding opportunities. These topics aim to advance the development and commercialization of new ideas and research from small businesses that can drive innovation.
The Bioenergy Technologies Office (BETO) is contributing to the FY25 SBIR/STTR funding opportunity with a Renewable Carbon Resources topic and two Conversion Technologies topics jointly with the Industrial Efficiency & Decarbonization Office (IEDO) and Advanced Materials & Manufacturing Technologies Office (AMMTO).
BETO is contributing to the following topics:
- Bioenergy Feedstock Logistics Improvements (C60-04)
- Joint BETO/IEDO Topic: Energy Efficient Aqueous Separation Technologies (C60-10)
- Unit Operations for Efficient Recovery of Value-Added Chemical
- Reducing Contaminants in Product Streams
- Joint BETO/AMMTO Topic: Plastic Circularity (C60-03)

- Projected grant start date: July 8, 2025
