DOE’s Interconnection Innovation e-Xchange (i2X) program released a request for information (RFI) to gather input on a draft distributed energy resource interconnection roadmap. This RFI solicits feedback on the interconnection goals, solutions, and success metrics for the distribution and sub-transmission systems identified in the roadmap. SETO is interested in hearing from all interconnection stakeholders, such as utilities, grid operators, regulators, state and local governments, interconnection customers, energy justice groups, nonprofits, clean energy developers, public interest groups, Tribes, and trade associations. Register for the roadmap overview webinar on September 26 at 1 p.m. ET and submit responses by October 7.
SETO has been busy at the RE+ clean energy industry conference. Stay tuned for an update about our activities next week.
Don't forget to participate in these funding opportunities, prizes, and solicitations:
Solar Energy, the official journal of the International Solar Energy Society, is seeking papers for its special issue about advances in heliostat technologies. This special edition builds on the efforts of SETO’s Heliostat Consortium. The deadline to submit research papers is February 1, 2025.
The American-Made Solar Prize offers cash prizes and technical support at national labs to entrepreneurial teams moving innovative ideas toward commercialization. Check out this new video to learn more about how the prize works and remember to apply to round eight by September 26.
Distributed energy resources (DERs), like solar and wind energy, are evolving quickly at the grid edge and must be securely integrated into grid operations and management to ensure reliability. A new technology from Sandia National Laboratories, called SolarSnitch, aims to secure PV communications within DER systems to maintain a secure and reliable power grid.
DOE’s Office of Technology Transitions (OTT) announced its intent to issue a call for proposals from national laboratories, plants, and sites for the FY25 Core Laboratory Infrastructure for Market Readiness (CLIMR) Lab Call. OTT anticipates releasing the $37 million FY25 CLIMR Lab Call in October 2024.
DOE’s Critical Materials Collaborative (CMC) is launching a quarterly newsletter this October. The CMC is a network of DOE offices (including SETO), federal agencies, and research community members that focuses on enhancing communication and coordination across the critical materials innovation ecosystem. This quarterly newsletter will keep you informed of the latest CMC activities, funding opportunities, key events, and more within DOE and partner agencies.
