In Case You Missed It
DOE’s Office of Electricity has announced selectees receiving over $10 million to support the multi-year research, development, and demonstration of microgrid-related technologies. This funding aims to make clean energy available and affordable in remote areas, particularly underserved communities across America. Read the full announcement to learn more about how microgrids can increase the reliability and resilience of the electric grid!
There’s still time to apply for technical assistance for your community’s energy resilience planning! Thirty-two remote and island communities are already addressing local priorities and goals through the Energy Transitions Partnership Project, which combines national laboratory research with support from local organizations. DOE is especially seeking applications from Hawaii and the Gulf Coast and Great Lakes regions, so be sure to apply by July 10!

To continue growing toward a clean energy future, it’s crucial to develop offshore wind projects—without harming the surrounding wildlife. That’s why WETO funded the Wildlife and Offshore (WOW) project, which studies how marine species respond to offshore wind energy projects under construction. Learn more about how WOW research teams ensure offshore wind developments are compatible with marine wildlife, from fin whales to black-backed gulls!
