Is your home feeling drafty this winter?
Find those leaks and seal them up! Air sealing is one of the easiest ways to improve the comfort of your home.
You can find air leaks in your home yourself by:
- Inspecting common leaky areas, like those around utility cut-throughs for pipes, gaps around chimneys and recessed lights in insulated ceilings, and unfinished spaces behind cupboards and closets.
- Conducting a DIY pressurization test or using a flashlight to detect air leaks.
- Sealing those gaps by caulking connections that don’t move or weatherstripping connections that do move to, for example, open and close windows or doors.
For a more thorough assessment of the air leaks in your home, you’ll want to get a professional energy audit with a blower door test.
