SETO hosted a two-day workshop on the solar applications of AI and ML. Check out the various presentations and take-aways from this exciting event.
The workshop covered four solar applications of AI and ML, including:
- Forecasting, materials synthesis, data imputation, and power flow optimization
- Classification-related problems, including anomaly direction in operations and cybersecurity
- Dealing with large datasets, including the challenges they present in research and development contexts
- Funding agency operations, including the use of generative AI and Large Language Models
Don't forget to participate in these funding opportunities, prizes, and solicitations:
-
*Deadline Extended* Transmission Interconnection Roadmap Request for Information (RFI) – Grid operators, utilities, state and local governments, Tribal governments, clean energy developers, energy justice organizations, nonprofits, trade associations, and other stakeholders can submit feedback by December 1.
-
Equitable Solar Communities of Practice – Industry experts can apply to serve as lead organizations for one or more of the five proposed communities of practice by December 8.
-
ORISE Science, Technology, and Policy Fellowship – Students, researchers, and professionals interested in solar energy can apply to join SETO as a fellow by January 15.
Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory just published a report that analyzes the evolving role of solar+storage for home backup power. The analysis shows how required storage sizing changes as homes become more efficient, flexible, and electrified. Check out a presentation on the new report for more information on solar+storage in the United States.
Attention PhD students and professors in photovoltaics (PV): Applications are now open for the 12th HOPE Workshop. This workshop provides opportunities for graduate students and their professors to interact with scientists at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), and learn about PV technology in a hands-on, small group setting. Apply by February 15, 2024.
In 2022, SETO released an RFI to get feedback from various stakeholders on PV performance data acquisition, access, and sharing. SETO received and reviewed 14 responses and has summarized the feedback.
The Internal Revenue Service is accepting public comments on proposed regulations impacting the ITC, which includes federal solar energy tax credits. Submit feedback by January 22, 2024.
