North Carolina State University (NC State) is excited to announce a groundbreaking workshop designed to shape the future of waste management, drive sustainability, and explore opportunities for a net-zero bioeconomy. The Waste to Advanced Resources Matter (WARM) workshop will be held November 15 - 16, 2023, at NC State’s Talley Student Center in Raleigh, North Carolina.

With support from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Bioenergy Technologies Office (BETO), and in partnership with National Renewable Energy Laboratory, IBM, the Town of Cary, and Idaho National Laboratory, the workshop will bring together participants interested in carbon resource recovery from municipal solid waste (MSW) destined to landfills for ultimate conversion to biofuels, biopower, biochemicals, and bioproducts.

The WARM workshop will provide representatives from industry, municipalities, national labs, universities, non-government organizations (NGOs), and governmental agencies with a forum for discussion and engagement, focusing on decarbonization end-to-end solutions, leveraging artificial intelligence (AI)/machine learning (ML), cloud, and industry 4.0/smart manufacturing technologies. Participants’ input will be used to inform and set priorities along the entire supply chain in support of achieving renewable resources goals and decarbonizing the waste sector.

Registration is open and earlybird registration ends October 20, 2023. Sponsorship opportunities are available, and students and postdoctoral researchers receive 50% off their registration fee - email waste-to-resources@ncsu.edu for your discount code. The WARM workshop will also offer a limited number of registration scholarships based on the availability of funds.
