The Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) has an opportunity for a deputy director to join the Industrial Efficiency and Decarbonization Office (IEDO) on a mission to decarbonize America's industrial sector.
Deputy Director – (Interdisciplinary/Supervisory General Engineer/Physical Scientist, GS-15)
The Deputy Director of IEDO will serve as an independent, authoritative program manager by providing policy development advice, guidance, and direction to DOE leadership and to external customers. Specifically, this office leader will:
- Oversee the identification and interpretation of legislative requirements for IEDO and manage the implementation of IEDO programs and activities.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of Federal, State, and local government policies and incentives for the market transformation of industrial decarbonization technologies.
- Assess and make improvements to the IEDO organizational structure; determine operating costs for various program initiatives; determine resources required to carry out IEDO programs to include staff and budget; and perform long-range policy planning for the office.
- Oversee the development and implementation of multi-year program plans and annual operating plans.
- Develop annual program budget requirements and approve and manage the use and distribution of allocate funds.
- Work in partnership with U.S. industry, academia, and national laboratories to advance the technology and develop markets to create and maintain a robust environment for the development of industrial decarbonization technologies.
