GTO Acting Director Lauren Boyd and DOE Special Advisor Jeff Marootian joined Fervo Energy and its research and industry partners for the inaugural Fervo Energy Technology Day in Houston. Fervo hosted the event to celebrate and present findings from the company’s successful 30-day well test at its full-scale commercial EGS pilot in Nevada, and to discuss the implications for accelerating deployment of geothermal energy.
Numerous news outlets covered the well test and its potential impacts on geothermal energy, including Bloomberg, Canary Media, CNBC, Popular Science, and EnGadget, which details Fervo’s agreement with Google to provide geothermal power to the tech giant’s data centers.
Fervo has received GTO research funding for work on zonal isolation and through DOE’s Frontier Observatory for Research in Geothermal Energy (FORGE). As part of its FORGE R&D award, Fervo broke ground on its first greenfield development in southwest Utah earlier this year (adjacent to the FORGE site).
