SAF Grand Challenge Team Receives 2022 Secretary’s Achievement Award
Congratulations to the Sustainable Aviation Fuel Grand Challenge (SAF GC) team! On January 24, 2023, the SAF GC team, composed of federal employees from several government agencies, contractors, national laboratory employees, and the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy’s Bioenergy Technologies Office (BETO), was honored to receive the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) 2022 Secretary of Energy Achievement Award, and we couldn't be more proud!
Through their hard work and dedication, these 43 outstanding individuals have helped move our country closer to a renewable clean energy future–supporting the Biden-Harris Administration’s goals to achieve carbon pollution-free electricity by 2035 and to deliver an equitable, clean energy future, and put the United States on a path to achieve net-zero emissions, economy-wide, by no later than 2050.
The Sustainable Aviation Fuel Grand Challenge is the result of the DOE, the U.S. Department of Transportation, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and other federal government agencies working together to develop a comprehensive strategy for scaling up new technologies to produce sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) on a commercial scale.
The annual Secretary’s Honor Awards are among the highest forms of recognition federal employees and contractors can receive, and they recognize those who go above and beyond in their public service, making lasting impacts on the department and the country. All nominations were endorsed by the applicable Head of Departmental Element and Under Secretary, reviewed and recommended by our Executive Resources Board, and approved by Secretary Jennifer M. Granholm and Deputy Secretary David M. Turk.
