There has never been a more exciting time for clean energy, as we wrap up a historic 2022 calendar year. Clean energy is one of the fastest-growing industries in the United States, and there are more funding and workforce opportunities coming out of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) than ever before. That’s why we launched the Weekly Jolt—your one-stop shop for all the latest clean energy developments. Every Wednesday, you’ll receive a summary of major announcements from the previous week. These include milestone moments, technological innovations, and tips for making your world more energy-efficient.

There’s a lot on the agenda for 2023, so keep your eyes on the Weekly Jolt for updates on how we can work together to build an equitable, clean energy system.

DOE Proposes New Efficiency Standards For Distribution Transformers

DOE proposed energy-efficiency standards for three categories of distribution transformers—a device used to change the voltage of electrical power before it’s distributed to customers. If finalized, the new standards will improve the resiliency of America’s power grid, lowering utility bills, and significantly reducing domestic carbon-dioxide emissions by 340 million metric tons over the next 30 years.

Transportation Research Board Roundtable

January 10 | 3:45 p.m.

Join the departments of Energy, Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and the Environmental Protection Agency as they roll out the U.S. National Blueprint for Transportation Decarbonization. This landmark strategy lays the groundwork for removing all emissions from the transportation sector by 2050. Leadership from all four agencies will join transportation sector stakeholders to discuss the impact this Blueprint will have on the U.S. transportation sector.  

Transportation Research Board Fireside Chat with Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm

Join Secretary Jennifer M. Granholm and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg for a chat about the Joint Office on Energy and Transportation.
