Funding Updates 

DOE Announces Nearly $74 Million To Advance Domestic Battery Recycling And Reuse, Strengthen Nation’s Battery Supply Chain

DOE announced nearly $74 million in funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law for 10 projects that will advance technologies and processes for electric vehicle battery recycling and reuse. The funding supports the reintegration of used batteries into the supply chain to meet increased battery demand and reduce reliance on foreign sources for critical materials.

U.S. Joins International Collaboration to Decarbonize Energy-Intensive Industries

On November 17, Energy Secretary Jennifer M. Granholm announced that the United States will join Mission Innovation’s Net-Zero Industries Mission. Read about how this international partnership will bring together thought leaders from across the globe to develop and accelerate the deployment of cost-competitive technologies needed to decarbonize energy-intensive industrial sectors.

Prize Winners Continue Advancing Innovative Pumped Storage Hydropower Technologies

Carbon Dioxide Removal: Reducing our Footprint

Earn $5,000 toward your undergraduate education by designing an infographic about the leading methods used to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Submissions are due by November 30 and must include at least four current carbon-dioxide removal methods.

Geothermal Internship Opportunity

To help advance the geothermal energy industry, the DOE and the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) have announced a new internship program. This collaboration is part of NSF’s INTERN program and will support 10 to 20 six-month research internships per year for projects that advance geothermal technologies.
