Inflation Reduction Act

DOE Announces $250 Million Investment From Inflation Reduction Act For Domestic Heat Pump Manufacturing

DOE issued a notice of intent and request for information to determine how to best leverage the Defense Production Act authority invoked by President Biden to accelerate domestic electric heat pump manufacturing. Increased use of electric heat pumps, particularly when replacing fuel oil and natural gas for air and water heating, will allow more American families and businesses to benefit from lower energy costs through American-made clean energy technologies. Responses are due by November 30.

Funding Updates

Hydropower Funding Opportunity to Advance Fish Passage Protection Technologies

EERE’s Water Power Technologies Office released a $4 million funding opportunity to reduce the environmental impacts of hydropower and enhance innovative fish passage and protection technologies. Advancing these technologies could improve environmental outcomes for hydropower plants and expand mitigation options available to plant owners seeking licensing or relicensing. Concept papers are due by December 5.

DOE Announces $84.5 Million to Make Clean Energy Improvements and Lower Energy Costs for K-12 Schools

DOE released a notice of intent announcing $80 million to make K-12 schools more energy efficient and lower their energy costs, including some of the nation’s highest-need schools. The funding is the first tranche of the Renew America’s Schools grant program created by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to provide schools critical energy infrastructure upgrades.

EERE Share Your Video Story

Tell us your clean energy story!

DOE is collecting videos about the benefits of clean energy. We’re looking to hear from families who saved money on their utility bills, workers who got a job in solar, wind, or another clean energy field, people advocating for clean energy adoption in their city, or elected officials who’ve made progress using clean energy in their towns.

Please record a 30 to 60-second video message on a smartphone, vertically, selfie style or with a tripod. Minimize background noise by using headphones, if possible.

By November 3, upload your video and sign our media release waiver here: Tell Us Your Stories!
