BETO Director Speaking at Countdown to COP Event

Dr. Valerie Sarisky-Reed, Director of the U.S. Department of Energy Bioenergy Technologies Office (BETO) will be part of the Economist’s upcoming “Sustainability Week: Countdown to COP27” panel this Wednesday, October 5, 2022, to discuss the importance of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) and BETO’s role in their production and increased sustainability.

The panel, which begins at 2:30 p.m. BST (9:30 a.m. EST), is titled “Fireside Chat: Developing Better, More Sustainable Biofuels,” and will feature three other speakers:

  • Sarah Wilkin, Founder and Chief Executive of Fly Green Alliance
  • Leigh Hudson, Manager of Sustainable Fuels and Carbon for International Airlines Group
  • Rachel Delhaise, Head of Sustainability for Convex Insurance.

The event will be moderated by Daniel Bloch, assistant manager for Sustainable Aviation Fuel at the International Air Transport Association and will cover how SAFs are evolving, their environmental impacts, how they’re being developed, and more.
