The 2021 Algae Biomass Summit will be held virtually from September 28-30 and will feature a keynote address by Michael Berube, the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Sustainable Transportation for the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE).
The summit will also feature two speakers from DOE’s Bioenergy Technologies Office (BETO): Dr. Nichole Fitzgerald, Program Manager for Feedstock Technologies and Advanced Algal Systems, and Dr. Jay Fitzgerald, Chief Scientist for BETO. Dr. Nichole Fitzgerald will be giving a plenary titled, "Carbon Capture and Algae Production: Synergistic Solutions for the Future," and Dr. Jay Fitzgerald will be moderating the panel, "The Role of Algae in a Sustainable Future: Environmental, Social, and Economic Sustainability."
