OPERATION BioenergizeME is the Bioenergy Technologies Office’s (BETO’s) education and workforce development base camp for students, educators, and anyone seeking to better understand the opportunities, promises, and challenges of developing a thriving bioeconomy. The bioeconomy refers to a global transition to the sustainable use of renewable biomass resources in energy and products, leading to economic, environmental, and national security benefits.

To support students, educators, and parents in learning about the bioeconomy, BETO provides downloadable online resources that are fun and educational:

  • Biomass Basics: The Facts About Bioenergy – Browse through this informational resource to learn about biomass, other waste resources under development for bioenergy, and an overview of how these resources can be used to produce biofuels, bioproducts, and biopower.
  • Bioenergy Coloring Book – The Coloring and Activity Book was developed by BETO as part of its OPERATION BioenergizeME initiative. It is designed for children and adults as a fun learning tool.
  • Infographic Challenge Toolkit – Students, educators, or anyone learning about the opportunities of developing a thriving bioeconomy can participate in this creative activity. Download this infographic to design up to four bioenergy topics as an extracurricular activity at home in your virtual classroom.
