FEMP Announces 2019 Federal Energy and Water Management Award Winners

FEMP congratulates the winners of the 2019 Federal Energy and Water Management Awards! FEMP holds its annual Awards competition to recognize federal employees and organizations, along with their private sector partners, for developing and implementing exemplary, cost-effective projects and programs at federal facilities that cut energy waste, reduce costs, optimize performance, and advance America’s progress toward energy independence, resilience, and security, while also enabling more effective accomplishments of federal agencies’ missions. Read about the winners and their accomplishments on FEMP's website.

Department of Defense Issues Request for Information to Identify Cybersecurity Workforce Gaps

To address the requirements of Executive Order on America’s Cybersecurity Workforce, issued on May 2, 2019, the U.S. Department of Defense is requesting agency and industry comments to assist in identifying cybersecurity workforce gaps and training requirements for cyber-physical systems (CPS). This is not a request for a capabilities statement, but a reporting of the status (skills required, known gaps, and related curricula) of the CPS workforce.

Respondents are asked to download and complete the attached Cyber-physical Workforce Report Survey. Please also refer to the attached Cyberworkforce Report and Inquiry Presentation for more information. Please submit your responses to Daryl Haegley by 5:00 p.m. EDT on September 13, 2019.

FEMP Recognizes Agency Champions at the 2019 FEDS Spotlight

FEMP's third annual FEDS Spotlight recognition program was presented at the 2019 Energy Exchange on August 22, 2019, where winners were honored by DOE, along with senior leaders and colleagues from across the federal government. In line with the 2019 Energy Exchange theme of “Be Efficient and Resilient,” this year's ceremony celebrated the achievements of the winners, who were selected by their own agencies, for helping to ensure efficient and mission-ready federal operations through replicable, cost-effective, and resilient projects and programs. Read about the winners and their accomplishments on FEMP's website.

Mark Your Calendar for the Fall FUPWG Seminar

The Fall Federal Utility Partnership Working Group (FUPWG) Seminar will be hosted by FEMP and the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) on November 7–8, 2019 in Washington, D.C. The FUPWG seminar is held twice per year to share best practices, success stories, case studies, information about FEMP activities, and other business. Continuing Education Units will be offered for professional stakeholders that hold licenses and certifications that require continuing education. Registration will open and the agenda will be provided in early September; check the seminar webpage for more information. The event will be held at the United States Navy Memorial, and attendees are encouraged to secure hotel reservations as soon as possible since no room block is associated with this event.

Featured FEMP Tools and Training

Did you know that FEMP offers a range of free on-demand training sessions and tools to support federal agencies’ energy reduction efforts, including software, data sets, and databases? Each month, FEMP will spotlight a few of these resources that are available to all.

  • ESCO Selector: This tool helps agencies create a notice of opportunity that complies with federal requirements, producing a standard template in Word format that is editable and easily tailored as needed.
  • FEMP EISA 432 Compliance Tracking System: This FEMP tool tracks agency performance of energy and water evaluations, project implementation and follow-up measures, and annual building benchmarking requirements.
