Solar Decathlon Village Insider

November 2017

Message from the Director

I'm in withdrawal from Solar Decathlon 2017. The past month energized me with the spirit and dedication of student decathletes, their supportive faculty and university administrators, and our generous sponsors and partners. Add the excitement that our visitors and volunteers brought to Denver, and it’s no surprise that I already miss the village we built together.

I'm thrilled to look back and say that so many moving parts came together seamlessly to pull off this incredible event. Even the weather just added to the excitement, as for the first time, a Solar Decathlon village encountered snow. This only made the competition more interesting, particularly since the flakes began to fall just as our expert juries toured the houses.

It was an honor for me to work with all of the teams, our partner Energetics, the City and County of Denver, and other sponsors in support of a brighter future. Speaking of which, we are busy starting to prepare for the next U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon 2020! We will be in touch as we nail down the details. In the meantime, please email Solar.Decathlon@ee.doe.gov with any questions or comments.

Until next time,
Linda Silverman
