EEOC Announces Opening of 2022 EEO-1 Component 1 Data Collection
Deadline to Submit and Certify Reports is December 5
WASHINGTON – The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) announced the opening today of the 2022 EEO-1 Component 1 data collection due Dec. 5, 2023. To meet this deadline, the EEOC strongly encourages eligible filers to begin the filing process as soon as possible.
The EEO-1 Component 1 report is a mandatory EEOC annual data collection requiring all private sector employers with 100 or more employees, and federal contractors with 50 or more employees meeting certain criteria, to submit workforce demographic data including data by job category and sex and race or ethnicity.
The EEOC’s Office of Enterprise Data and Analytics (OEDA), which administers the agency’s EEO data collections, continues to modernize the agency’s data collections and improve the quality of data collected. For the 2022 EEO-1 Component 1 data collection, OEDA released a new EEO-1 Component 1 Instruction Booklet to better meet the needs of filers. This booklet consolidates existing support materials, including frequently asked questions and fact sheets into a single resource for filers and provides additional information to clarify eligibility and reporting requirements.
The EEOC is improving the filing process by implementing self-service options and an online Filer Support Team Message Center for filer support. The center allows filers to submit requests for assistance to the EEOC within the EEO-1 Component 1 Online Filing System (OFS) as well as update requests with new information, terminate requests, and track the status of requests.
Filers can visit the dedicated EEO-1 Component 1 website at www.eeocdata.org/eeo1 to access the OFS, Filer Support Team Message Center, and 2022 EEO-1 Component 1 Instruction Booklet, as well as to find the latest updates and supplementary resource materials.
The EEOC also collects workforce demographic data every two years from local referral unions, state and local governments, and public elementary and secondary school systems and districts. These data collections include the EEO-3 Local Union Report, the EEO-4 State and Local Government Information Report, and the EEO-5 Elementary-Secondary Staff Information Report.
The 2023 EEO-4 state and local government data collection also opened today, also due Dec. 5, 2023. The EEO-4 is a mandatory data collection for all state and local governments with 100 or more employees to submit demographic workforce data, including data by race/ethnicity, sex, job category, and salary band every two years. A new EEO-4 Instruction Booklet is also available. For more information, please visit the dedicated EEO-4 website at www.eeocdata.org/eeo4/.
The 2024 EEO-3 and 2024 EEO-5 are tentatively scheduled to open in calendar year 2024.
The EEOC advances opportunity in the workplace by enforcing federal laws prohibiting employment discrimination. More information is available at www.eeoc.gov. Stay connected with the latest EEOC news by subscribing to our email updates.
