U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission sent this bulletin at 01/05/2023 09:43 AM ESTThe Indianapolis District of the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission participates in several Labor Trafficking Prevention and Response Committees. One of those Committees, the Indiana Protection for Abused and Trafficked Humans (IPATH) Labor Trafficking Committee is holding a virtual conference on January 26, 2023 starting at 10:00am EST.
As EEOC Chair Burrows has stated, "The EEOC’s enforcement of protections against workplace discrimination has an important role in the fight to end human trafficking and to fulfill America’s promise of equal justice. When force, fraud or coercion are used to compel labor or exploit workers, traffickers and employers may violate not only criminal laws but also the federal laws enforced by our agency – in particular, the laws prohibiting employment discrimination on the bases of race, national origin, sex and disability."
