EEOC SEEKS PUBLIC INPUT ON
FY 2022-2026 STRATEGIC PLAN

WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has released for public comment a draft of its Strategic Plan for Fiscal Years 2022-2026, the agency announced today. The draft plan can be found at Regulations.gov (https://www.regulations.gov/document/EEOC-2022-0004-0001). Comments must be submitted by December 5, 2022. This draft plan is still under review and subject to approval by the full Commission before becoming final.

The Strategic Plan serves as a framework for achieving the EEOC’s mission through the strategic application of the EEOC’s law enforcement activities, preventing employment discrimination and advancing equal employment opportunities through education and outreach, and organizational excellence.  The plan is guided by three values which form the basis of our agency culture and guide our daily work:

  • Commitment to equal employment opportunity
  • Accountability
  • Integrity

The process for developing this plan has been highly inclusive and collaborative.  The plan was drafted by working groups comprised of staff from EEOC’s headquarters, field offices, Commissioner’s offices, and the agency’s union.  We now seek input from the public. Our goal is a plan that will be a true reflection of the agency’s values and all those who have a stake in our mission.

The EEOC is the leading federal law enforcement agency dedicated to preventing and remedying employment antidiscrimination laws and advancing equal opportunity for all in the workplace since 1965. Every four fiscal years, Congress requires executive departments, government corporations, and independent agencies to develop and post a strategic plan on their public website. These plans direct the agency’s work and lay the foundation for the development of more detailed annual plans, budgets, and related program performance information in the future. The EEOC is currently operating under the Strategic Plan for Fiscal Years 2018-2022.

The EEOC also publishes a Strategic Enforcement Plan (SEP), which is a separate document that establishes the EEOC’s substantive area priorities for its work to advance equal employment opportunity and prevent and remedy discrimination in the workplace. The agency will seek public comment on the draft SEP for FY 2023-2027 at a later date.

The EEOC advances opportunity in the workplace by enforcing federal laws prohibiting employment discrimination. More information is available at www.eeoc.gov.  Stay connected with the latest EEOC news by subscribing to our email updates.
