At the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA), 2024 was another year of tremendous impact and growth. Our dedicated team of public servants worked tirelessly to improve the competitiveness of American industry. In 2024, EDA made 583 awards and dispersed more than $1 billion throughout the nation, helping to create or retain 52,135 jobs and attract more than $7.5 billion in private investment.
EDA’s investments build a foundation for sustainable job growth and durable regional economies throughout the country and continue to deliver significant results for the American people.

Congress Reauthorizes EDA
EDA is celebrating its historic reauthorization by Congress, allowing the agency to continue its legacy of promoting American innovation and competitiveness by providing grants and support to communities across the country. Reauthorization allows EDA to strengthen tools to support the agency’s role in job creation and placement, modernize EDA’s authorities for critical grants and resource delivery, and improves EDA operational efficiency and transparency. EDA Appropriated $1.5 Billion for Natural Disaster Support
The newly signed American Relief Act of 2025 appropriates $1.5 billion to EDA for relief to American communities impacted by natural disasters. This funding is for areas that received a major disaster declaration in 2023 and 2024 — including communities affected by Hurricanes Helene and Milton, major flooding, tornadoes, and the Maui wildfires — and allows communities to continue building stronger, more resilient economies. EDA Selects Six Tech Hubs for Implementation Funding
EDA announced it has selected six designated Tech Hubs to receive a total of $210 million in implementation grants, ranging between approximately $22 million and $48 million. The six latest selected recipients are among the 31 Tech Hubs designated in October 2023 by President Biden to scale up the production of critical technologies, create jobs in innovative industries, strengthen U.S. economic competitiveness and national security, and accelerate the growth of industries of the future in regions across the United States. EDA Awards $25 Million for Workforce Training Programs
EDA awarded $25 million in Good Jobs Challenge funding to support eight high-quality, locally led workforce training programs that lead to workers placed into good jobs. The new projects expand the reach of the Good Jobs Challenge program, which was initially funded by $500 million from the American Rescue Plan. The Good Jobs Challenge has now invested in 40 workforce training programs with a combined goal of 53,000 Americans placed into good jobs. [Read More]
