Dear Friends of EDA,
In March 2021, President Biden signed the American Rescue Plan Act into law which provided the Economic Development Administration (EDA) $3 billion to assist local economies’ efforts in recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic within the statutory deadline of award by September 30, 2022.
I am pleased to share that as of September 27, 2022, EDA has processed and awarded all $3 billion in American Rescue Plan funding through 780 grants.
This federal funding is expected to generate more than $20 billion of private investment and to create, save or place 220,000 jobs, according to grantee estimates. We are extremely proud of our grantees and I am thankful to EDA’s dedicated team for their focus and expediency in moving this critical funding swiftly and equitably into communities across America. The number and diverse scope of the grants portfolio provided under ARPA is an incredible demonstration of EDA’s ability to support regional economies through locally driven programs that invest in people, position communities for long-term growth, and catalyze strategic industries, thereby building a better America.
In the coming weeks, we will share more information about this portfolio of grants on our website.
Please stay tuned for more on these transformative projects.
Best,
Alejandra Y. Castillo
