Your Input Requested on Model State 911 Plan and Legislative Language Guidance Revisions
National 911 Program seeks feedback on current project by August 10th

The National 911 Program and a working committee of 911 stakeholders have drafted updated versions of two existing resources that help the 911 community prepare for and implement NG911 - Guidelines for State NG911 Legislative Language and the Model State 911 PlanYour review and input is requested by August 10th.

What is Happening Now
The two original documents - released nearly five years ago - have been revised to account for advancements in the implementation of NG911. Each has been expanded to include guidance on how to overcome technical and operational challenges inherent to today's landscape of emerging technologies and changes in how the public accesses 911 services.

The revised documents leverage the thoughtful work of numerous 911 organizations, working groups and other entities. Both documents include best practices, lessons learned and example approaches useful to the diverse spectrum of 911 systems in operation across the nation.

How You Can Help
The National 911 Program and the National Association of State 911 Administrators (NASNA) request your feedback to ensure the new documents:

  • Are relevant to a broad audience, including states and 911 systems in various stages of NG911 policy-setting, planning, implementation and operation
  • Address the needs of the 911 community thoroughly, accurately and appropriately
  • Convey guidance clearly and concisely with clear recommendations that can realistically be applied by 911 systems
  • Include a well-balanced collection of best practices, lessons learned and sample approaches

Please submit your recommendations for specific edits and/or additional content by using the spreadsheet template provided. The draft documents along with respective comment forms can be downloaded on the project page
