INSTRUCTORS OF EXCELLENCE 2019 ANNOUNCED

The National Highway Institute (NHI) is thrilled to congratulate the 98 instructors that received the Instructor of Excellence award for Fiscal Year 2019.

As you know, for the last 50 years NHI has been responsible for training the nation’s transportation workforce. We could not do this without you: our team of talented and knowledgeable instructors.

With more than 400 instructors from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and NHI’s contractor partners, we work together to deliver superior subject matter expertise and top-notch technical training to the entire transportation industry. Instructors like you, that bring real-world experience and technical expertise, are the backbone of NHI’s training program and our most valuable resource. We value your ongoing commitment to training adult-learners across the transportation workforce.

That’s why we are exceptionally proud to honor our 98 top-performing instructors for going above and beyond in delivering high-quality training. With more than 400 active instructors at NHI, receiving the Instructor of Excellence award is no small achievement - the instructors that earned this award were ranked at least 4.7/5.0 on their evaluations, taught at least two courses within the fiscal year, successfully completed the NHI Instructor Development Course, achieved NHI’s Instructor Certification, and were endorsed by an NHI Training Program Manager.

This award was first introduced in 2007, with just three qualifying instructors. Since then, the continued dedication to excellence, professionalism, and learner-centered training from NHI’s instructors can be seen in the growing number of awardees each successive year. NHI’s Director, Michael Davies, is proud to reinstate this award for fiscal year 2019 to recognize the efforts and drive of our top instructors.

But don’t just take our word for it: the participants’ evaluations of each session are the true gauges of instructor success. Here’s what some of them had to say about courses they took with NHI’s Instructors of Excellence for 2019:

  • "...did an excellent job. Very knowledgeable in the subject matter. Very good communicators. Kept the class engaged. Very positive experience."
  • "Best NHI instructor I've experienced in 15 years. Great job."
  • "... made review of known materials interesting and did an excellent job of relating the subject matter to real world applications directly related to participant job descriptions."

On behalf of NHI, congratulations again to our FY 2019 Instructors of Excellence:
