National Stormwater Practitioners’ Peer Exchange
May 5-7, 2020 Raleigh, NC
The postponed 2019 National Stormwater Practitioners’ Peer Exchange is rescheduled for May 5 – 7, 2020. The North Carolina Department of Transportation is hosting the meeting, sponsored by USDOT FHWA Office of Project Development and Environmental Review. The TRB AFB65 Stormwater Committee mid-year meeting will also be held during the peer exchange. This national forum will provide the opportunity to share best practices that address related issues affecting project delivery, learn from others’ experiences, and have a synergistic effect on State DOTs. Travel reimbursement (travel to-and-from the conference and hotel stay at the per diem rate) is provided for one representative from each State.
Sample topics to be discussed:
- Erosion and sediment control design, trends, construction and maintenance, wetlands and environmental permitting

- Asset management, O&M for BMPs, chloride impairment
- BMP maintenance, MS4 permits
- Funding/grants, research
- MS4 compliance, NPDES compliance
- TMDLs, hot topics in compliance
- SWM regulatory requirements
The four previous National Stormwater Practitioners’ Meetings were held in 2008 in California, 2010 in Colorado, 2012 in North Carolina, and 2014 in Washington, DC.
