FHWA National Dialogue on Highway Automation: Introductory Webinar

May 8, 1:00-2:30 PM ET– This webinar will provide an overview of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA)'s upcoming National Dialogue meetings. The National Dialogue is a series of meetings to be held across the country to facilitate information sharing, identify key issues, and prepare the broader transportation community to safely and efficiently integrate automated vehicles into the road network. The webinar will discuss ongoing and planned national initiatives in automation, and present top highway automation focus areas to be explored through the Dialogue.

Transportation Cyber-Physical Security: Things We Should Know


May 10, 1:00-2:00 PM ET– Dr. Kevin Heaslip and PhD students Mahsa Foruhandeh and Kaveh B. Kelarestaghi, all of Virginia Tech, will present their research on current security threats to the transportation network. This includes their risk-based qualitative analysis of the vulnerability of variable message signs to cyber attack. Viewers of this webinar will learn about several possible impacts that ITS security vulnerabilities might impose on road users and system operators.

ITS Standards: Module 38: Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) ITS Standards for Project Managers


This module provides an introduction to the connected vehicle and V2V environments, and their potential benefits to the operators of surface transportation systems. The module presents several V2V safety, mobility, and environmental applications, and discusses how these applications impact surface transportation operation.

The ITS PCB Program maintains a directory of technical school, community college, and university ITS courses. If you would like your educational institution included, please contact ITSPCB@dot.gov. For individuals interested in transportation systems, NYU's Tandon School of Engineering offers Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Transportation Planning and Engineering. The school is also home to two ITS-related research centers: the Center for Urban Intelligent Transportation Systems and the Connected Cities for Smart Mobility toward Accessible and Resilient Transportation Center (C2SMART) (a Tier 1 University Transportation Center).
