Final Stage One SMART Grant, and first Stage Two SMART Grant Awardees Announced

Today, U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg announced nearly $140 million in grant awards for 34 Stage One technology demonstration projects across the country through the SMART Grants Program, and the first eight Stage Two SMART projects. The selected projects include locations in 21 states for Stage One, and eight different states for Stage Two.

The SMART Grants Program is a two-stage program. These Stage One grant awards focus on initial deployment activities, including Planning and Prototyping. Recipients will focus on demonstrating technology prototypes, community engagement, and local capacity building. The awards are the final Stage One awards anticipated for the SMART Grants Program

These Stage Two grant awards are the first round of Implementation Grants, which will scale promising projects from Stage One to Stage Two projects. The SMART Grant Program anticipates there will be several additional rounds of Stage Two grant awards for all eligible Stage One recipients to apply for.

The full list of awards for Stages 1 and 2 can be viewed here
