Navigating federal grant processes can be  challenging, especially for rural communities and others who may not be familiar with some of the technical elements that are required for transportation projects. USDOT is hosting a webinar on Tuesday, December 5 at 3:00-4:30 p.m. ET to spotlight several new resources to help grantees develop more successful applications for discretionary grant programs. Register here to attend the webinar.

Join staff from the Office of the Secretary for Policy to learn about a new Benefit-Cost Analysis Tool developed by the Department. A benefit-cost analysis (BCA) is a systematic process for identifying, quantifying, and comparing expected benefits and costs of an investment, action, or policy. Many DOT discretionary grant programs require a BCA for projects seeking federal funding, particularly those involving construction projects.

Staff from USDOT’s Rural Opportunities to Use Transportation for Economic Success (ROUTES) Initiative will share the newly updated Rural Grant Application Toolkit designed specifically to help rural, Tribal, and and smaller communities seeking to navigate the growing menu of federal transportation grant programs and develop competitive applications.

We will also hear about some of the newly announced Safe Streets and Roadways for All (SS4A) grant awards and tips for including safety elements in grant applications.
