Women's Wednesday for Small Business

The United States Department of Transportation's (DOT) Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU) invites you to participate at the Women's Wednesday for Small Business to be held on Wednesday, March 30th. This session will start promptly at 2:00 pm, EST. Please note that this event is open to all businesses.

Since March 1987, Women’s History Month has been regarded as a time to celebrate the accomplishments and hard work of women in society. Women have continuously contributed to many of the major successes throughout American history. And in modern fashion, women are currently the fastest group of growing entrepreneurs.

However, women-owned small businesses in the economy have been historically underserved in government contracting programs. Small business policies, business tips, finances, and ownership all play a factor in successfully running a firm. There are also multiple women’s business centers across the US that help firms with business development needs to assist even with minority firms. As a collaborative effort, we wanted to bring all aspects of woman-owned business information to this event.

For the last twelve years, the Department has received, at a minimum, an “A” rating in SBA Scorecard for its small business achievements and has exceeded its WOSB goals. As a continuing effort to promote procurement opportunities within DOT, we are hosting this session to help women-owned small businesses navigate the federal procurement process and available resources. OSDBU’s mission is to ensure that small business concerns have the maximum practicable opportunity to participate in DOT procurement opportunities as prime contractors and subcontractors. Please register by COB March 28th.

Topics to be covered:

• Overview of DOT small business programs

• Federal Highway Administration opportunities

• Finance, equity, and inclusion

• Available resources to support WOSBs grow their businesses
