Thank you for your continued interest in the 2021 Vehicle Inventory and Use Survey (VIUS). The Bureau of Transportation Statistics is excited to bring you the latest information on the upcoming survey as we continue to prepare for the upcoming 2021 VIUS.

In this edition of the VIUS newsletter, we are excited to bring to you the....

Finalized 2021 VIUS Questionnaires

Now that the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) has granted approval for the final versions of the 2021 VIUS questionnaires, we are excited to share them with you.

Light Vehicle Questionnaire

for owners of Class 1, Class 2 and lighter Class 3 trucks

(Pickups, minivans, SUVs and other light vans)

Class 1 - 8 trucks

and the Heavy Vehicle Questionnaire

for owners of Class 3 trucks

Class 4 truck

up to Class 8 trucks

Class 8

A big thanks to all who participated in our listening sessions and suggested revisions to the 2021 VIUS questionnaires over the past year. Your contributions are reflected in the final versions and will change the course of this survey for the better. We appreciate the support of our partners, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), the Department of Energy (DOE), the Census Bureau, and all the data users and industry experts who have invested the time to ensure a successful return of the VIUS.

We still need YOUR support

With fewer than 70 days until the launch of the 2021 VIUS, now is the time to promote the survey and its benefits. If your organization would like to show support and/or market the 2021 VIUS, please reach out to us directly at VIUS@dot.gov. You can support the VIUS by bringing awareness of the survey to your members through email, distribution of our VIUS flyers, and/or advertising in your digital or print newsletters.
