The Build America Bureau of the U.S. Department of Transportation recently posted a Request for Information (available at https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2020/02/28/2020-04099/regional-infrastructure-accelerator-program). We’re seeking input about how best to develop a Regional Infrastructure Accelerators program.

Through designated Accelerators, we want to help communities around the country develop improved infrastructure priorities and project financing strategies.

The Accelerators will provide a resource for those working to deliver transportation infrastructure projects eligible for TIFIA credit assistance.  TIFIA-eligible recipients include state departments of transportation, transit operators, special authorities, local governments, and private entities.

Accelerators will be most useful supporting projects in less-experienced, underserved and under-resourced communities.  We anticipate helping deliver projects that enhance safety, improve roads and bridge conditions, and promote economic development.

The Bureau will administer development and implementation of the Regional Accelerators, but we need your help.  We are keenly interested in hearing your ideas on how to get these Accelerators up and running as quickly and effectively as possible.

We place tremendous value on information received. Interested parties are encouraged to respond to the RFI by March 28, 2020. For more information, please visit our website.
