OFCCP Honors Veterans Day
On Veterans Day, the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs honors our nation’s veterans who have given so much to protect our freedoms and the freedom of others around the world. We express gratitude to all who have served and to those who currently serve with an unwavering commitment to protect our nation, many times at a great personal sacrifice to themselves and their families.
At OFCCP, we pledge to ensure equal employment opportunities in the civilian workforce for protected veterans, disabled veterans, and spouses of protected veterans. OFCCP enforces the Vietnam Era Veterans’ Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA) which makes it unlawful for a federal contractor or subcontractor to discriminate in employment against protected veterans.
OFCCP employees honor veterans each day by advocating for veterans’ rights. Under the current administration, OFCCP resolved several VEVRAA cases recovering more than $412,000 for veterans in instances where we found workplace discrimination. Thirty percent of the total settlements recovered went to disabled veterans.
OFCCP provides resources to veterans to understand their rights and to federal contractors to protect veterans from workplace discrimination. This year we have several new and updated resources:
Please review these resources and join us as we honor generations of veterans who have made, and continue to make, sacrifices for our freedom.
