Job Summary:
This position is located in the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) Division of Information Assurance, and performs a variety of duties in support of Information Assurance Compliance and Oversight. Information Assurance, under the direction of the Departments Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), is responsible for managing the Department-wide cyber security program. This includes the review and approval of information assurance policies, standards, and guidelines; developing guidelines for system security plans; ensuring compliance with all information security related national directives and Departmental policies; and ensuring that all staff receives the appropriate security awareness training for their specific roles. These policies, standards, and guidelines are designed to protect all Department of Labor information and information systems from threats both internal and external. The incumbent serves as an IT Security Officer for the Department. Acts as a technical expert for the Departmental security team on information security issues and as such is a recognized authority on policies, procedures, guidance and technologies impacting the Departments computer security program. The incumbent is also charged with information security strategic planning and development in support of the Departments mission. The incumbent regularly deals with information which demands a high level of public trust with access to sensitive/confidential data and will be required to obtain a suitable security clearance.
