Updated Schedule Award Policy and Procedures

Attention AMUs and ARs:

As outlined in this DOL blog post and FECA Transmittal Number 25-03, we are updating our policy and procedures on schedule award claims.

The new policy and procedures are designed to simplify schedule award claim processing, and claimants may now submit an impairment rating report from their own physician based on either the 5th or the 6th Edition of the AMA Guides.

Effective January 10, 2025, schedule award claims must now be filed on the new Form CA-9 ‘Claim for Schedule Award.’ The new option to file Form CA-9 is being released in ECOMP this evening. Form CA-7 will no longer have the option to claim for a schedule award.

Unlike Form CA-7, which still requires the supervisor’s review, Form CA-9 will be forwarded directly to the responsible Agency Reviewers once the claimant completes their portion. The Agency Reviewer only has to review the information entered by the claimant and provide any comments they may have.

The new FECA Procedure Manual chapter on schedule awards is available on our website.

If you have any questions, you may reach out to your assigned Technical Assistant.

Thank you.
