Acting Secretary Su, Rep. Casar to hold media conference to discuss protecting workers from dangers of extreme heat exposure on the job

Highlighting federal protection measures as Texas ends mandatory construction workers’ water breaks 

WASHINGTON – Acting Secretary Julie Su will join Rep. Greg Casar for an online media conference on Aug. 31 to discuss the administration’s efforts to protect workers from the dangers of extreme heat exposure on the job as Texas prepares to end mandatory water breaks for construction workers on Sept. 1.

Specifically, they will highlight the importance of the recent heat hazard alert issued by the department’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

The conference will inform media of the need for workplace protections and employers’ responsibilities under federal law to protect people across the nation from the potential dangers of working in extreme heat, both outdoors and indoors.
