will meet on June 15 in Washington

Secretary of Labor appoints Kenneth G. Seal as new committee member

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration will hold an online meeting of the Advisory Committee on Construction Safety and Health on June 15, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. EDT.

The Contract Work Hours and Safety Standards Act, also known as the Construction Safety Act, established the committee to advise the Secretary of Labor and Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health on policy matters arising under the CSA, and the setting of construction standards.

In a related update, Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh appointed Kenneth G. Seal to serve on the committee’s employee representative. An industrial specialist/safety and health representative for the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, Seal replaces an employee representative who resigned from the committee. He will serve the remainder of the former appointee’s term, which ends May 14, 2023.

The meeting will include the following:

  • Remarks from Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health Doug Parker, who will also provide agency updates.
  • Discussions on the agency’s efforts to address occupational exposure to COVID-19 in healthcare settings, and its Construction Focus Four and infrastructure initiatives.
  • Updates on construction industry from OSHA’s Directorate of Construction.
  • Reports from the ACCSH’s workgroups.
  • An opportunity for members of the public to address the committee.

On June 14, ACCSH workgroups will also meet online as follows: the Infrastructure Workgroup from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.; the Education, Training and Outreach Workgroup from 1 to 3 p.m.; and the Emerging and Current Issues Workgroup from 3:10 p.m. to 5:10 p.m.
